Dr. Howell graduated with distinction from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio and received his M.D. from Ohio State University College of Medicine.  He completed his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan in 1992, and completed a Fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery in Buffalo, New York in 1993.  Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Howell became an instructor in both the hand fellowship program and the orthopaedic residency program at the State University of New York at Buffalo.  From 1997 until 2006, Dr. Howell practiced as an orthopaedic hand surgeon on the staff of Spectrum Orthopaedics in Canton, Ohio.  He joined the staff of Shoreline Orthopaedics in 2006.  Dr. Howell is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications for Surgery of the Hand.  He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
