My Comeback Story: Teresa S.

Teresa S.
Yes, I drove all the way to Michigan

2 months after open-heart surgery, I was still having severe mobility problems with my left shoulder. After an MRI in St. Louis (my hometown), my primary care provider wanted to send me to an orthopaedic surgeon for a “possible” rotator cuff tear. I was very discouraged and fearing yet another surgery, and was in disbelief that I got a rotator cuff tear during open heart surgery. Dr. Alexander Kelsheimer had performed a highly successful rotator cuff tear repair on my husband a few years ago in St. Louis, and when I needed some SOUND advice and someone who would listen to my concerns, I immediately thought of Dr. Kelsheimer. He had moved to Michigan in the interim, so I made the call, got the appointment, and made the drive. That was 8 months ago, and I was just telling my husband last week that I ABSOLUTELY made the RIGHT call driving all that way to see Dr. Kelsheimer. After a very thorough assessment, Dr. Kelsheimer gave me a cortisone injection and ordered physical therapy for a “frozen shoulder”. Now, 8 months later, I am happy to report I am back in the gym 3 days a week, and my shoulder is the least of my concerns. THANK YOU, DR. KELSHEIMER! You are the best! I needed a knowledgeable doctor with an empathetic ear, and you were there!

PS. Hubby’s shoulder is still working great as well, 3 years post surgery 😁
