About Dr. Swartz

Dr. John Swartz focuses on providing advanced care for disorders of the hip and knee. He uses the newest techniques and leading-edge technologies to perform hip and knee replacements. Dr. Swartz is certified and experienced in performing Mako SmartRobotics™ partial and total knee replacement.

He provides a variety of services, including:

  • Minimally invasive posterior and anterior approaches for total hip arthroplasty
  • Robotically assisted partial and total knee replacements
  • Revision of failed hip and knee replacements
  • Knee arthroscopy for treatment of meniscus and cartilage disorders
  • Operative and nonoperative fracture care

After earning his bachelor’s degree in biology from Hope College in 2004, Dr. Swartz went on to receive his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. He completed a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at Michigan State University, St. John Oakland Hospital, followed by a one-year fellowship in adult reconstruction at Desert Orthopaedic Center in Nevada. Dr. Swartz grew up in Richmond, Michigan, and is pleased to be back on the lakeshore with his family.
