Orthopaedic Surgery
As an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Cheek specializes in shoulder surgery as well as sports medicine and shoulder arthroscopy. In addition to performing over 7,000 arthroscopic procedures including rotator cuff repairs, Bankart reconstructions and SLAP repairs, he has extensive expertise in shoulder replacement surgery. Patients with complex shoulder and technically difficult revision cases are referred to Dr. Cheek from physicians throughout the Midwest.
Dr. Cheek graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from the University of Michigan Medical School, completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Wisconsin, and served in the United States Air Force as Chief of Orthopaedics at Offutt Air Force Base until his honorable discharge. After joining Shoreline Orthopaedics in 2003, he was first to perform arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and arthroscopic labral repair at both Holland and Zeeland Hospitals. Board Certified and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, he is a member of the Michigan Orthopaedic Society, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Dr. Cheek considers education to be integral to the practice of medicine, as demonstrated by his many speaking engagements, which include: The Distinguished Lecture Series in Sports Medicine at Hope College, the Physician Lecture Series at Holland Hospital, The Senior Seminar Series at Zeeland Hospital, The Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses, The Lakeshore Chapter of Nurse Practitioners, and a local physical therapy symposium. He has volunteered his services at the Holland Rescue Mission and the Holland Community Health Center.
Dr. Cheek and his wife are foster parents and leaders in a foster and adoptive care ministry involving multiple churches and organizations in West Michigan.
Dr. Cheek is affiliated with both Holland Hospital (Holland, Michigan) and Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital (Zeeland, Michigan). He is currently accepting new patients.
